What would happen if you meditated until the peace became more real than the thoughts?
A meditation retreat you can do at home and with others online
a one week, radical, inward, personal experiment
We're all languishing in thoughts and emotions we prefer not to have.
From a spiritual point of view, the only truly effective way to shake off a languishing, depressive state is to raise one's consciousness.
By replacing the habit of chewing on every thought that crosses our mind with something else—something that's much more profound to the mind and heart—we can then facilitate a shift towards "unity consciousness", a natural state of peaceful oneness.
The problem is that in our culture, we are not given the direction and opportunity to affect this change.
That's why I created this virtual meditation retreat so that you can step off of the treadmill, or at least feel like you're doing so, along with others to cheer you on.
And of course, I created this so that you can experience the kind of complete transformation that happens when you truly take the time to touch the Infinite.
What would happen if you meditated until the peace became more real than the thoughts?
So join me for an online meditation retreat / boot camp. This one week, accelerated pace, at-home event will begin with a gentle review of the basics along with an update to your initial training.
Even if you feel that meditation doesn't work for you, this review + update will make it easier than before.
What comes out of a meditation retreat?
As a result of this accelerated meditation program, large blocks of stress are healed, repetitive thinking is slashed, and a deep calm is overlaid onto one's life. This welcome peace and clarity carries us through the day, changing lives.
Take this opportunity to re-experience your inherent oneness with the Universe and have radiant mental and emotional health.
Connection
Connection is a quality of the soul. Feeling connected to the Universe, to others, to one's place in life—these feelings arise not from finite things, but from the soul.
Lightness & Joy
These envelop you unexpectedly and naturally because the soul, by its very nature, is lightness, joy and peace.
Wholeness
As we meditate and move away from identifying with the body, becoming more aware of our infinite soul self, we'll naturally feel a "nothing is wrongness because of so much fullness".
"Okay, what is my commitment?"
Your part is to:
Commit to setting aside time to meditate each day in a quiet spot in your home for one week, at a time of your choosing:
How much time? Starting at 30 minutes and increasing by 30 minutes each day until you are meditating for 120 minutes a day, breaking it up into pieces—remember, this commitment is just for one week and is designed to quickly shift your consciousness in a rapid time frame. Don't worry, you can do it with everyone cheering you on and the time just flies by!
Besides, what else are you going to do with your free time? Watch "The Bachelor" again? All I'm asking is to re-prioritize all disposable entertainment for just one week.
I also want you to discover that the time you invest into having eyes closed will be returned by being more productive and happier throughout your day;Then relax into meditating without expectation of how and when the effects will unfold;
Commit to checking into a private group chat (undecided method) on how you're feeling and to receive my support. This will only take minutes;
Commit to the 3 video chats:
first Sunday morning, 10:30am - 12:15 — the boot camp + meditation
Wednesday evening, 8:30pm - 9:00 — a 30 minute meditation
last Sunday morning, 10:30am- 11:30 — the follow up
if you can't because of time zones or work schedule, let me know and I'll brainstorm with you; After the week is up, adjust the amount of time you meditate so that you can extend your newfound, peaceful soul experience. We can continue the group support if the desire is there.
Yes, just like a retreat, there is indeed a commitment, and it is going to require some creative time shuffling.
So what would happen if you meditated until the peace became more real than the thoughts?
FAQ
I was struggling with my practice. Will you be going over the basics?
Yes, 100%! There will be a review so that everyone feels confident about the process.
In the intervening 3 years, I have spent a lot of time ruminating on how get anyone back on track, regardless of how they feel they're doing. I feel that it's the teacher's responsibility that the student "gets it".
In other words, if you've learned to meditate in the past 3 or 4 years, and you've stopped meditating, don't worry one bit.
By tinkering with my teaching process back then—yes, I do this often—I made a misstep with your training: I had introduced a slight effort into your practice. So sorry for that. Even subtle effort will make meditation feel like work, which we don't want. No, not at all!
For instance, I will not have you "imagine you can 'see' space", as that was putting the cart before the horse and creating a subtle degree of strain. Instead, it's sufficient to simply drop the phrase in your mind, as if dropping it into a well, and letting all the tension in your body fall away with it.
This tweak will bring it all back, making it effortless and deeply relaxing—as it should be.
I've been really depressed and nothing works. I'm afraid to put hope into this.
I understand. I've been where you are and I can say with certainty that you're not cursed and that there is nothing wrong with you.
It is safe to put hope into this because ultimately, I'm just giving you a structure for you to return to your home, your soul's larger self.
When your awareness rests here, rather than in thoughts or emotions, you will remember the natural joy, lightness, and peace your Infinite self... and struggle to remember your depression.
Ask your heart if this feels true.
How does this work?
The idea is to get you to experience what it's like to shift "consciousness envelopes" into the larger soul self or Infinite consciousness. Right now, most people are in a "thinking consciousness". That doesn't feel good. We want to shift to "unity consciousness".
Sounds fancy, but don't worry, it's actually simple, as you have the tools, and you've done this before during your course.
After all, the Infinite is who you are, it's not some exotic destination.
As it turns out, the only obstacles to experiencing Infinite consciousness are the accumulated stress in the nervous system, and the thinking habit. The latter likes to throw up the "why am I doing this?" thoughts, and the former is heal-able.
As with a real, in-person retreat, we will be meditating for longer-than-normal periods to boost the process along.
Can I practice a mindfulness/breath-based/energy/plant medicine technique during this event?
I understand that mindfulness, etc. are endorsed by many popular spiritual teachers. These techniques are easier to learn, and they have a stark simplicity to them, which has a certain minimalist appeal—yet they are night-and-day different from our "automatic self-transcending" form of meditation by every metric.
Specifically, mindfulness/body scanning/breath-based/energy meditation practices keep awareness superficial, as awareness is limited to a finite thing—the breath, the body, or sounds in the environment. So you wind up with "breath consciousness" or "body consciousness" or "environment consciousness" or "energy consciousness". Yes, these are relaxing, but relative in terms of depth of what one could experience. In these forms of meditation, it is only by laziness or accident that awareness is allowed to expand toward the Infinite, and is also why meditation is perceived to be monotonous, "hard", or take forever to have breakthroughs. Which isn't to blame the process—it's just not designed to take one to the Infinite. With plant medicine, the benefits are unpredictable, the body acclimatizes to the chemical triggers, and they have unwanted side-effects.
As a contrast, our "automatic self-transcending meditation" practice, with its customized, thought-based "star phrases" work differently. They have no negative side-effects, and act as a disposable "vehicle" that takes awareness past the body and thought stream and into the stillness of the Infinite—your soul self.
The "vehicle" has an extra payload that also heals the nervous system, allowing one to rest for longer periods in this expanded state of consciousness and carry it through one's day.
Furthermore, this expansive process is gentle yet "mechanical", requiring no belief for it to work. All that is required is some time and a little faith to give it a chance to do its job. More time results in a greater opportunity to notice the benefits as the stress takes time to burn off.
To summarize, sorry, these other forms of meditation will not work to bring about a shift into unity consciousness in the reduced time frames that we will be working within. If I felt that mindfulness, etc., would be effective and time efficient, I would be teaching them. So I cannot in good conscience facilitate an event where mindfulness, etc. is encouraged.
Can I invite a spouse or friend to join me who has not taken the course before?
I understand the desire to want to share this with others, even if they have another meditation practice, but ultimately the event wouldn't serve the person and would make more more work for me as the teacher.
Sorry, but not this time.
